Rain

1- Rain, (noun), cta (ctawi).


2- Rain, (verb), ṣebbet c-cta.

It's raining cats and dogs, ṛa-hi tṣebb xiṭ men s-sma.


Examples:

According to the weather forecast, there'll be more rain on the way. - Ɛla ḥsab l-ḥwal l-ǧewwiyya, mazal tzid tṣebb c-cta.

I can hear the loud sound of rain. So it must be raining heavily. - Neqder nesmeɛ mliḥ l-l-ḥess taɛ c-cta, immal ṛa-hi tṣebb c-cta b-z-zuṛ.

I couldn't go because of the heavy rain. - Ma qdert-c nṛuḥ ɛla ǧal c-cta l-qwiyya.

I'd say we are definitely going to get some rain. - Ana nqul belli ma fi-h-c cekk ṛayḥa tṣebb cwiyya cta ɛend-na.

I'm afraid it's going to rain. - Cekkit ṛayḥa tṣebb c-cta.

From the look of the sky I'm afraid the rain won't let up for a while. - Ɛla ḥsab hadi s-sma, ṛa-ni xayef lukan hadi c-cta tṭewwel.

He's carrying an umbrella because it's raining. - Ṛa-hu rafed siwana xaṭer ṛa-hi tṣebb c-cta.

If it rains tomorrow, I'll just stay at home. - Lukan tṣebb c-cta ɣedwa, ana neqɛed f d-daṛ.

It has been raining a full five days. - Ɛend-ha xemsa iyyam melli ṛa-hu tṣebb c-cta bla ma ḥebset.

I took a taxi, because it was raining. - Ḥkemt ṭaksi xaṭer kanet tṣebb c-cta.

It's going to rain all weekend. - Ṛa-hi ṛayḥa tṣebb c-cta ṭul l-wikand.

It's raining pretty hard. - Ṛa-hi tṣebb b-z-zuṛ.

It suddenly started raining. - Hakda beṛk u bdat tṣebb c-cta.

Since it was raining, I stayed home. - Ki kanet tṣebb c-cta, qɛedt f d-daṛ.

Take an umbrella with you in case it rains. - Ddi mɛa-k siwana f ḥalet ida ṣebbet c-cta.

The rain turned the road into a quagmire. - Hadik c-cta ṛeǧǧɛet ṭ-ṭriq ɣerqa.

There are puddles because it was raining yesterday. - Kayen brek xaṭer ṣebbet c-cta l-bareḥ.

They say we're going to get rain! - Qalu belli ṛa-hi ṛayḥa tṣebb c-cta ɛend-na!
