b- a long time ago, bekri.

c- (To do something) a long time ago, ɛend-ha bezzaf melli (dar kac ḥaǧa).

d- At that time, hadak l-weqt.

e- On time, f l-weqt.

To buy time, rbeḥ l-weqt.


I have time to spare. - Ɛend-i l-weqt.

I wanted more time. - Sḥeqqit weqt zyada.

Now is the time to drink. - Duṛk weqt c-cṛib.

We scarcely had time for lunch. - Qrib ma kan-c ɛend-na gaɛ l-weqt neffeṭru.

Examples (a long time ago):

A long time ago, Europeans thought that the Sun was orbiting the Earth. - Bekri, l-Uṛupiyyin kanu ixemmemu belli c-cems tduṛ ɛel l-erḍ.

I saw this movie a very long time ago. - Ɛend-i bezzaf, bezzaf melli ceft had l-film.

That portrait reminds me of someone I knew a long time ago. - Had l-puṛtri ifekkeṛ-ni b-waḥed kunt neɛṛef-u ɛend-i bezzaf.

Examples (at that time):

I was still there at that time. - Kunt mazal-ni l-temm hadak l-weqt.

Examples (in time/on time):

I'm right on time. - Ṛa-ni swaswa f l-weqt.

I arrived on time. - Wṣelt f l-weqt.

I should be home in time for dinner. - Men l-mefruḍ newṣel f l-weqt bac netɛecca f d-daṛ.

Examples (to buy time):

That'll buy us a little time. - Had c-ci irebbeḥ-lna cwiyya weqt.

They were buying time. - Kanu yerrebḥu f l-weqt.
